Back From Bunty!

Posted by Erador on July 30th, 2006

Well I got back earlier, from sunny, sunny Buntingford, Jennifer drove us down, as she had to come back for uni anyway. Midwives have a hell of a timetable!

We saw the sights and sounds, or at least the ones worth seeing. Including a trip to The Imperial War Museum at Duxford, which for the first half of the day was half cordoned off due to the torrential downpour the night before. Ack foo, ridiculously sunny weather interspersed with sporadic bouts of torrential rain, it’s the most annoying type of weather imaginable. We saw lots of WWII and WWI planes, a few were bimbling about the skies, though nothing ancient was up there. They had a very good war machines exhibit, with ground based weaponry in situ, lovely reconstruction of bombed buildings and such, a bit Jorvik-like in that respect, though without the smells.

We had to visit her local too ;) mmm Real Ale, can’t say the Buntingford Ale — St. Paddy’s was anything to write home about, but I’m told reliably that it wasn’t one of their better ones. In other beer news London Pride is equally rough down South as it is in the union! So that’s comforting. I did have one nice one, honest! Young’s Bitter (3.7%) was pleasant, it was nice and light, excellent for a summer’s eve’ after a long hot day.

It seems that I didn’t scare/annoy/maim/impose (delete as appropriate) [on] Jennifer’s parents too much, I don’t like being a burden, except to Ratan…but that’s an Bradford University Archery Club in-joke, sorry. I have quite happily yoinked Unfinished Tales for the reading of, which will be returned to Jennifer when I remember to grab it off her… (i.e. Jennifer remind me!).
